Another difficult-to-find gem, this Peach BBQ wood is going to bring a huge smile to your face and colour to your cheeks and BBQ!

Just behind the Te Miro Woolshed is the family orchard of one of my best mates, Big Danny Boom Chicka. It’s on a little rise looking down a valley and back toward Mt Te Aroha in the distance. On a clear day, you can see forever. The orchard has Plum, Pear, Apple and Peach trees, along with some of the most amazing free-range pheasants you’ve ever seen.

The Peach trees are now making way for Avocado trees. They’ve never been sprayed and heavy fruiting this year caused many of the branches to buckle under the weight.

When used to flavour your meat, Peach is sweet and smells amazing on the coals. Like most of our other fruit woods, it’s subtle and not overbearing. Great paired with pork and poultry, you can even use it on beef at a pinch.
